Occupational Therapy Support
Our Occupational Therapy program has been developed to meet the needs of all children, not just those with hearing loss.
Children develop at different rates with some acquiring skills later than their peers. Some children may need additional time and support to develop skills such as crawling, jumping, climbing, colouring, drawing, following directions or socialising with peers.
Our Occupational Therapists will work closely with you to develop goals for your child and will guide you through strategies to use in everyday situations. We provide the latest assessment and treatment resources, and our clinicians are experienced in working with children.
Hear and Say Occupational Therapy can assist you and your child by identifying areas that may be impacting on their success and help them build critical foundation skills including:
- Postural stability
- Gross motor coordination
- Fine motor skills
- Hand-eye coordination
- Visual processing skills (visual perception)
- Cognitive skills
- Handwriting development
- School readiness skills
- Self-care skills (dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Social skills
We work with you and your child in a whole-of-family approach, so together we can achieve the best outcomes for your child.
At 9.10pm on 24 October 2013 our beautiful daughter Maia was born.
The moment of elation was short-lived as we immediately noticed her left ear was missing. I frantically looked to the medical team around me for answers but received none.
Panic set in as we waited 4 days in hospital for an ENT to explain her condition, by which point we already had all the answers from Simone, who runs the Microtia and Atresia Program at Hear and Say.
