As a part of Hearing Awareness Week which culminates on Saturday 3 March with World Hearing Day, Hear and Say is calling for all Queenslanders to take steps to protect their hearing and to ‘Love your Ears’.
A whopping 3.5 million Australians experience hearing loss, with many exposed to regular and sustained noise that could potentially cause permanent damage. Our hearing is precious! So don’t wait until it’s too late to start taking care of your ears.
Here’s four super easy ways to protect your hearing and ‘Love your Ears’
1. Protect those ears
Wear ear protection when attending music concerts, using the lawn mower or in noisy work environments
2. Use headphones wisely
As a rule of thumb, if you use ear buds or headphones, measure the sound level by ensuring the sound can’t be heard by others
3. Turn the volume down
If you remove your ear buds or headphones and can hear ringing in your ears, turn the volume down
4. Too noisy? Vote with your feet
Try not to remain in noisy situations for too long and if where you are is too loud – go somewhere else!
Hear and Say’s ‘Love your Ears’ campaign is running across the year. Visit here for more information on the campaign.
