March – Hear and Say’s ‘Hear to Learn’ School Hearing Screening Program officially launched on 3 March following a successful pilot.
May – On May 2, Hear and Say announces the purchase of new building in Toowoomba for its new centre to open in July 2017, thanks to the philanthropic support of the Thompson Family Children of the Future Fund.
July – On July 6, Hear and Say celebrates 25 years since opening with an event at the Ashgrove Centre attended by the Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Paluszczuk. Hear and Say also commemorated this milestone at Government House with the Honourable Paul De Jersey AC.
August – The 200th school is screened as part of Hear to Learn.
July – October – Hear to Learn visits 10 Central Queensland schools in partnership with longstanding partner Thiess.
At 9.10pm on 24 October 2013 our beautiful daughter Maia was born.
The moment of elation was short-lived as we immediately noticed her left ear was missing. I frantically looked to the medical team around me for answers but received none.
Panic set in as we waited 4 days in hospital for an ENT to explain her condition, by which point we already had all the answers from Simone, who runs the Microtia and Atresia Program at Hear and Say.
