Hear and Say can support your child’s hearing and speech development.

Rural and Remote Areas –Telepractice Program

Telepractice, with the Tudors family, seen from the family end

Hear and Say can support your child’s hearing and speech development even if you live in rural and remote Queensland and beyond.

The aim of our Telepractice Program is to make sure your child is able to hear, speak and live to their full potential from the comfort of your home setting.

Research shows that our families who receive therapy via our Telepractice service achieve the same listening and speaking results as as our families who receive face-to-face support. No matter your location, Hear and Say is here to support you and your family.

Please contact us for more information on how this may help your child’s hearing and speaking development.

Telepractice Intensive Program

Hear and Say holds intensive programs for rural and remote families on site at our world class centres. The intensive provides face-to-face speech and language assessment and lessons, as well the opportunity for audiology consultations.

One of the most practical parts of the intensive program is the opportunity for children with hearing loss to play with other children at the LEAP playgroup program. This opportunity helps these children, who may be the only child with hearing loss in their local community, know they are not alone in their journey by connecting with other children just like them with hearing loss.

During these visits, social skills activities are provided for specific age-groups. Parents also have the opportunity to connect with each other. Parent education is also provided so that parents are confident in supporting their child in their home setting.

Hear and Say assists families to schedule travel, accommodation and additional relevant appointments during the Intensive.

We always love to hear from you!

Maia’s Story

At 9.10pm on 24 October 2013 our beautiful daughter Maia was born.

The moment of elation was short-lived as we immediately noticed her left ear was missing. I frantically looked to the medical team around me for answers but received none.

Panic set in as we waited 4 days in hospital for an ENT to explain her condition, by which point we already had all the answers from Simone, who runs the Microtia and Atresia Program at Hear and Say.
