We’re facing unprecedented times, and the safety of our community during this evolving COVID-19 outbreak is our top priority. We will continue to keep you updated via our website. As you can imagine the COVID-19 global pandemic has already begun to affect our Hear and Say community, which will undoubtedly impact our financial viability. Your support is ascritical as ever. Whether this is by helping us to raise awareness through our social media posts, or making a donation if you can, every little bit helps in these challenging times.
1. Sound Outcomes The Sound Outcomes:
First Voice Spoken Language data report launched in March, the largest set of data for children with hearing loss receiving listening and spoken language early intervention therapy globally. Within First Voice organisations, 86% of children with hearing loss (but otherwise typically developing) achieved a standard score within or above the average range for children their age.
2. Adult Hearing program
This year’s Hearing Awareness Week (March 1–7) highlighted the importance of people of all ages taking control of their hearing health – opportunely aligning with the recent launch of our Adult Hearing program (a social enterprise model which works to support the one in six Australians impacted by hearing loss).
3. 2018/19 Annual Report
Our 2018/19 Annual Report proudly highlights the achievements of the hundreds of children with hearing loss and their families supported by Hear and Say. An online version is available via our website.
4. Strategic Plan/Magic 8-Ball
A Magic 8-Ball is definitely not the way decisions are made around our strategic plan, but it is always a good conversation starter and a novel reminder about the importance of remembering those aspects of our environment which are out of our control. Hear and Say’s Board and Executive Management Team are continuing to refine Hear and Say’s strategic plan, and always looking at the near and far horizons to ensure that our programs remain worldclass, relevant and sustainable. It has been said by others that the best way to predict the future is to invent it, and the Magic 8-Ball says, ‘It is decidedly so’!
