Toowoomba Trivia Night
Thanks to the generosity and overwhelming level of participation of those who attended, this year’s Toowoomba Trivia raised over $6,000 to give the gift of sound to children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
A special mention to 10 year old Jaspa who spoke so eloquently about her life as a young person with hearing loss. She is a credit to Hear and Say, her school, but most of all the work of her family and her own determination to succeed.
Additional thank yous go to our auctioneer, Brendan Mayles of McGrath Toowoomba, and the Rotary Club of Toowoomba and Avacafe who did their very best to keep us warm on a chilly night.
So what’s next? Well, we are hosting our first ever Hear and Say Race Day at Clifford Park Racecourse on Saturday November 16. For more information on VIP function room tickets and sponsorship packages please visit our website or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
At 9.10pm on 24 October 2013 our beautiful daughter Maia was born.
The moment of elation was short-lived as we immediately noticed her left ear was missing. I frantically looked to the medical team around me for answers but received none.
Panic set in as we waited 4 days in hospital for an ENT to explain her condition, by which point we already had all the answers from Simone, who runs the Microtia and Atresia Program at Hear and Say.
