A father of three, John enjoys playing golf and having breakfast at local cafes with his friends.
Around five years ago, John found out he had a hearing loss, and has been wearing hearing aids since. “As my hearing loss is mainly in the high frequencies, I have trouble with speech clarity, and hearing in background noise and social situations,” said John.
“I was recently fitted with two new hearing aids, and with the updated technology I am hearing better and clearer than ever before.”
Hear and Say has recently expanded our services to support adults through hearing assessments and rehabilitation options, such as hearing aids and cochlear implants, the comprehensive program aims to empower people to hear better and improve their quality of life.
Hear and Say’s Adult Hearing Rehabilitation Manager and audiologist Georgia said by looking after your hearing health, you open up the opportunities to increase social connection, participate in hobbies and allow yourself to actively participate in conversations with loved ones.
“As we get older, being socially connected is even more vital to help preserve healthy brains and lifestyles,” said Georgia.
“It can be challenging to know which hearing device is the right one, so we support people to make an informed decision and provide clear recommendations based on their individual hearing loss and communication needs.
“Supporting people on their hearing journey is a very rewarding experience – I love receiving feedback about all of the new sounds they are hearing at their follow up appointment.”
Hear and Say’s Adult Hearing Program is also an independent and social enterprise model, which means it supports the work we do every day helping children with hearing loss to hear, listen and speak.
“A particularly appealing and rewarding element is the unique not-for-profit model for hearing aid fittings – knowing that I was helping to support early intervention and paediatric services only added to my overall experience,” said John.
