Dr Dimity Dornan AO
Executive Director and Founder
Dr Dornan (PhD University of Queensland, 2011) is a speech pathologist, researcher, HEARing CRC Key Scientist, and founder of Hear and Say, Bionics Queensland, and Human Bionics Interface. Dr Dornan’s research interests include hearing loss and bionics, her collaborations extending across multiple universities.
Dr Wendy Arnott
Research and Development Manager
Dr Arnott (PhD University of Queensland, 2002) is a speech pathologist with extensive postdoctoral research, teaching, and clinical experience in the area of childhood language and literacy development and disorders and more recently, the impact of hearing loss. Wendy also holds the position of Honorary Senior Research Fellow with the University of Queensland.
Emma (MPhil, University of Queensland, 2012), is Hear and Say’s Clinical Director and President-elect of the A G Bell Academy Board of Directors, is an audiologist who is passionate about evidence-based practice in hearing loss. Emma has a particular research interest in telepractice and tele-audiology.
Anna is a speech pathologist with a particular interest in single-sided deafness, having completed her honours research on this topic in 2017. Anna has a passion for clinical research and currently holds a conjoint research/clinical position at Hear and Say.
At 9.10pm on 24 October 2013 our beautiful daughter Maia was born.
The moment of elation was short-lived as we immediately noticed her left ear was missing. I frantically looked to the medical team around me for answers but received none.
Panic set in as we waited 4 days in hospital for an ENT to explain her condition, by which point we already had all the answers from Simone, who runs the Microtia and Atresia Program at Hear and Say.
