It goes without saying that 2020 has been a year like no other, yet amidst these challenging times has come amazing moments of community support.
The Ladies Long Lunch was just one of the fundraising events Hear and Say made the difficult decision to cancel this year, due to coronavirus. Upon receiving this news, many attendees generously donated their ticket cost, to help families impacted by hearing loss through the pandemic and beyond.
One guest, Anna Sanders took it one step further and has decided to host her own lunch and donate the proceeds to Hear and Say.
Anna’s daughter, Harriet was born with hearing loss four years ago, and her family has been passionate Hear and Say supporters since.
“Of course I was disappointed when the Ladies Long Lunch was cancelled this year, as it’s always a lovely opportunity to get dressed up and have a wonderful afternoon catching up with friends,” said Anna.
“More importantly though, I know firsthand how vital these fundraising events are in ensuring Hear and Say can continue to support more families impacted by hearing loss, which is why I chose to host my own lunch.”
Using the refund from the Ladies Long Lunch tickets, Anna and a small group of friends will host their own lunch – complying with coronavirus guidelines, of course – and donate all remaining proceeds back to Hear and Say.
“Hear and Say is a fantastic local charity that really does make a difference to the lives of many young children with hearing loss and their families.”
